Summary about the Fault in Our Stars
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is classified as young adult literature. In the beginning of the novel, Hazel Grace Lancaster is introduced as a 16 year old girl with cancer that has to lug around an oxygen tank. When she was at her cancer Support Group in the "heart of Jesus", Augustus Waters walked into her life. He kept staring at her, and she was in complete shock a boy actually was interested in her. Augustus comes to be this terrible driver with one real leg. Hazel and Augustus immediately hit it off. She starts calling him by the name of "Gus". They both fall in love with the book "Imperial Affection" by Peter Van Houten that Hazel shares with Gus. Books become something they both have in common. Hazel has countless questions about the book, but Peter never responds to any of her many letters she has sent. Gus then tries for himself, and he emails Peter and then gets a response. Gus then decides to give his "Make a Wish" to Hazel for a trip to Amsterdam. This is when her feelings become very strong and also her cancer becomes a little bit difficult. Gus, Hazels' mom, and Hazel embark on a journey to Amsterdam to meet the amazing Peter Van Houten. Peter turns out to be something they do not really expect. What happens before, during, and after Amsterdam changes both their lives forever.
